Obnoxious Sports!  Congratulations Melissa!  Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Proctor received recognition by being named to the Leaders Under 40 list by Leaders and Aspire Academy on Oct. 4 in London. The annual award, which honored its second class of recipients at the Natural History Museum, celebrates the best talent under the age of 40 years of age in the business of sport around the world.

“We could not be more proud of Melissa’s leadership of our marketing and brand strategy,” said Steve Koonin, CEO, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena. “Her tireless work to shift our organization’s areas of strategic focus continue to provide substantial benefits and have allowed us to connect with audiences in a truly authentic way.”

Proctor was one of seven award recipients in the Marketing & Public Relations category, joining executives from global companies such as AIG, IMG and EA Sports, among others. Leaders highlighted Proctor’s research efforts to identify specific target audiences and establish new strategic goals for reaching millennials, multicultural fans and business-based supporters.

A communications graduate of Wake Forest University, Proctor also holds a master’s degree in design studies/branding from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design at The London Institute, and has combined those disciplines to form the team’s brand communications department.
