Mason Temple was rocking last night for the first night of the Founder’s Celebration!
Although, numbers are low due to next week being the Bishops Conference in Detroit, Michigan the TriState area seemed to have turned out in good numbers to pause and remember Dad Mason. Pulling up to Mason Temple you could hear the Chior singing songs from back in the day before this new age thing called Praise and Worship.
A great grandson of Dad Mason, who is now a surgeon, expressed words of Bishop Mason as a loving father. Not knowing that Mason was a strong advocate of education and even encouraged his daughters to get the Masters in the 30s. The strict holiness preacher was not fond of his youngest daughter going to Howard University as he desired due to the scandal of a young girl getting pregnant.
Earlier that day Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr. was honored by the Shelby County Commissioners in thier chambers as the Presiding Bishop of the largest African American Pentecostal Denomination started by Bishop Mason. It was especially nice to have the Commissioner Willie Brooks, a COGIC man present the honor and proclamation to Bishop Blake.
Superintendent Terry Ellison of Montgumery, Alabama pastors one church in seven locations preached a fiery word on how we need an impartation NOW! He reminded the national church to not forget our history and what made us great. He encouraged the Saints that we do not have to wait, but God will do it NOW!
