President Emeritus Walter E. Massey ’58 will received the 2016 Public Humanities Award from Illinois Humanities on May 19, 2016 for developing creativity in young people, increasing access to education, and strengthening the ties between the humanities and the sciences. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the civic and cultural life of the state through the humanities.
Dr. Massey is an internationally recognized scientist and a renowned university administrator who carried Morehouse College into the 21st century. He served as president of Morehouse from August 1995 to June 2007.
