Everything Is Going Down, But The Word Of God……This is getting serious real fast and might not turn out positive for any of the parties involved. Allegedly a woman that was stalking Marvin Sapp is now missing. Hopefully the authorities will not look at him as a suspect!
The case of a missing Kalamazoo doctor has taken an interesting new twist.
A Grand Rapids TV station is reporting that well-known pastor and Grammy nominated gospel singer Marvin Sapp filed a request for a personal protection order against Teleka Patrick, who has been missing since December 5.
Sapp said in his request, which was filed in September, that 30-year-old Patrick was making claims that he was her husband. The request further goes on to say that Patrick moved from California to Kalamazoo so she could join Sapp’s church. She even went as far as contacting Sapp’s children and showed up in person at his home once, according to court documents. Sapp also said in his request that he has over 400 pages of correspondence from Patrick, all of which he has “never responded to.”
Patrick’s ex-husband, Ismael Calderon, told WOOD-TV he had concerns about her mental health, which he thinks influenced her move to Michigan.
“She went to Michigan on purpose and I don’t believe it had anything to do with, ‘Oh, Michigan has a really great psychiatric residency program,’” he said. ”What I heard is that there was somebody that she maybe felt that God wanted her to be with.”
Calderson said Patrick’s refusal to get help for her mental issues ultimately led to the dissolution of their 5-year marriage.
Investigators also revealed they discovered about 20 minutes worth of YouTube videos that might provide some clues on Patrick’s disappearance. The videos, which were uploaded by Patrick in November, could be considered slightly romantic in nature, as if they were made for a significant other. However, family members deny knowing anything about Patrick being in a relationship.
The videos show Patrick talking, cooing and singing to someone she calls “baby” and “love,” but never identifies by name. In a Nov. 8 video, she says, “I am just coming to you to say, ‘Hi’ and tell you about my day.” She also sings part of Jennifer Hudson’s “No One Gonna Love You” as she blows kisses to the camera. She signs off by saying, “Bye, I love you.”
A video from Nov. 10 shows an omelet and pancake breakfast Patrick prepared on a table set for two. “If you were here, this is what would be your plate,” she says. The video is titled “Surprise! Final video” with the caption, “I wish you were here with me.” After showing off the food, Patrick pans the camera to show flowers that are “from last time” before she starts singing Diana Ross’s “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.”
In another video that was uploaded on Nov. 10, Patrick says “I don’t know what’s going on, you know, in life and stuff. I have an idea, but I don’t know everything. So, you know, I just figured you do your best and I do my best and we give each other a chance when we are able to give each other a chance to be together and be happy.”
In a written statement, Patrick’s parents said despite the new revelations, it doesn’t change the fact that their daughter is still missing and the search for her continues.
“Regardless of Teleka’s emotional state, we believe wholeheartedly that she has encountered some harm or danger. It is unlike her to go any significant length of time without any contact with family or friends,” the statement reads. “Throughout the course of this investigation there have been more questions than answers and all we want is for our daughter to be brought home.”
Patrick was last seen on the night of Dec. 5, when she tried to get a room at the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites in downtown Kalamazoo. It’s not far from the Borgess Medical Center where she had been serving a medical residency since July.
Surveillance video shows Patrick, dressed all in black, walking into the hotel just after 7:30 p.m. and talking with employees at the reception desk for nearly 15 minutes. Since the video doesn’t have any audio, it’s not clear exactly what Patrick was discussing with the employees. However, it is known that Patrick was unable to book a room that night.
The last known image of Patrick was captured on that same video, around 7:48 p.m., as she walked out the hotel’s front door and onto a shuttle bus, which took her back to the medical center where her car was parked.
“The shuttle driver said she seemed nervous, even ducking down between vehicles, as if she was afraid of being seen by someone,” said Carl Clatterbuck, a private investigator hired by Patrick’s family. “I would say she was agitated, but if she was worried about something or someone, she never told anyone about it.”
Later that night, Patrick’s gold 1997 Lexus was found around 10 p.m. and 110 miles away in a ditch along I-94 near Portage, Ind. with a flat tire. Police found Patrick’s driver’s license, some cash and credit cards inside the car, but the keys were missing. Patrick’s wallet and cellphone were found at the medical center a day later when she was reported missing after failing to show up for work.
Clatterbuck said it appears Patrick felt unsafe and wanted to “be off the grid” in the hours before she vanished, and even borrowed $100 from a friend.
Investigators said they haven’t uncovered any evidence of foul play, but they can’t necessarily rule it out just yet.
Anyone with information about Patrick’s whereabouts is asked to call the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269-383-8748, Indiana State Police at 219-696-6242, or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
